Create New Product

Accurate product setup is the foundation of effective inventory management. Creating clear and detailed product records ensures reliable tracking, smooth order processing, and better reporting across your business.

In C2W Inventory, adding a new product is simple and flexible. You can create Inventory Items, Non-Inventory Items, or Service Items all from one screen. Only the SKU and Item Type fields are mandatory; all other fields are optional and can be added later.

Important:
Each SKU must be unique in the system. Once a SKU is created, it cannot be edited. If a SKU was entered incorrectly, deactivate that product and create a new one by copying the record with the correct SKU. number. Learn more about Auto SKU Generation.  

Create New Product

From the Main Menu, navigate to Inventory → Item.

Click New Item to open the product creation form.

You can either enter your own SKU and Product Name, or let the system auto-generate the item number.

Select the Product Type.

Optionally, add any other product details such as Category, Barcode, Description, Title, Cost and Price, Measurements, UOM, Remark, and Product Image.

Click Save in the top toolbar.

Product Record Fields

Product Type

Product types determine whether your products have stock levels that need to be tracked or if they are fees/labor charges. There are three types:

  • Inventory: Used for physical products that require stock tracking, including quantities on hand, purchasing, and sales.

  • Non-Inventory: Used for products that can be purchased or sold but do not require inventory quantity tracking.

  • Service: Used for services or labor-based offerings that do not involve physical stock.

NOTE:  Product Type selection is mandatory and cannot be changed once saved, so choose the correct type before creating the product.

Stock Keeping Unit (SKU)

In C2W Inventory, a Stock Keeping Unit (SKU) is an internal product identifier made up of letters, numbers, or a combination of both. It helps businesses uniquely identify, organize, and manage products within their inventory system.

Cost and Price 

C2W Inventory automatically calculates the Average Cost based on historical purchase data.

  • Enter the most recent purchase price in the Last Cost field.
  • Retail Price represents the market price.
  • Selling Price is the actual price you sell to your customers.

This helps ensure accurate profit margins and cost tracking.

Barcodes
Record product identifiers such as Barcode, UPC/EAN, ISBN, or XCode.
Once saved, you can scan either your own barcode or the one generated by C2W Inventory. The system recognizes both SKU and Barcode interchangeably—making data entry faster and reducing errors.
Measurements

Record measurements such as weight, volume, or size for shipping and storage optimization.

Units of Measurement & Conversions

If your products are purchased, stocked, or sold in different units (e.g., box, case, or piece), define your Units of Measurement (UOM) and set up conversion rates.
