How to Create and Use Bundle Products in C2W Inventory
Bundle and kit products allow businesses to combine multiple component items into a single sellable product while automatically maintaining inventory accuracy for the underlying components.
Common examples include:
- Gift baskets
- Promotional bundles
- Subscription boxes
- Starter kits
- Product bundles
- Multipacks
- Product repackaging
Unlike traditional manufacturing, bundle products are often assembled and shipped quickly, making them ideal candidates for streamlined manufacturing workflows.
Before You Start
Before creating bundle products, make sure:
- The finished bundle product already exists in C2W Inventory.
- All component products already exist in C2W Inventory.
- A Bill of Materials (BOM) will be created for the bundle product.
- Sufficient component inventory is available.
Create the Finished Product and Components
The first step is to create both the finished bundle product and all component products in the system.

- Gift Basket Large
- Starter Tool Kit
- Gaming Bundle
- Summer Promotion Bundle
Examples of component products:
- Coffee Mug
- Water Bottle
- Mouse
- Keyboard
- Chocolate Box

Create the Bill of Materials (BOM)
The Bill of Materials (BOM) defines the relationship between the finished bundle product and its components.
Creating a BOM does not affect inventory quantities.

Create the Manufacturing Order
Once the BOM has been created, you can create a Manufacturing Order to assemble the bundle or kit product.
Save
Click Save to create the Manufacturing Order without completing it.
Use this option when:
- The bundle will be physically assembled later.
- The assembly process requires additional time.
- The business wants to track work-in-progress assembly.
The system will:
- Create the Manufacturing Order.
- Generate a Manufacturing Order number.
- Leave inventory quantities unchanged.
Once the bundle has been physically assembled, users can later complete the Manufacturing Order from:
Manufacturing → Manufacturing Order
Save + Complete
Click Save + Complete to create and complete the Manufacturing Order immediately.
Use this option when:
- The bundle is assembled immediately.
- The bundle is pre-packaged.
- Inventory should be updated instantly.
Once completed:
- Finished product inventory increases.
- Component inventory decreases.
- Inventory movement records are created automatically.
This workflow is commonly used for:
- Gift baskets
- Subscription boxes
- Promotional bundles
- Product kits
- Product repackaging
Optional: Auto Complete MO
If your business always creates and completes bundle Manufacturing Orders in a single step, C2W Inventory also supports Auto Complete MO.
When enabled:
- The Save + Complete button is hidden.
- Clicking Save automatically creates and completes the Manufacturing Order.
- Finished product inventory is added immediately.
- Component inventory is deducted immediately.

Modify Components During Manufacturing
The Manufacturing Order screen allows users to make adjustments before saving.

- Add additional components
- Remove components

When Does Finished Product Inventory Change?
Creating and completing the Manufacturing Order increases the inventory quantity of the finished bundle product.
When the finished product is sold:
This workflow ensures inventory remains accurate throughout the order fulfillment process.
Complete Manufacturing Orders from the Sales Order Screen
For an even more streamlined workflow, Manufacturing Orders can be created directly from the Sales Order interface.
When a Sales Order contains bundle or kit products:
This workflow eliminates the need to switch between multiple screens and is especially useful for high-volume bundle businesses.

What Happens to Inventory?
When Auto Complete MO is enabled and users click Save:
- Finished product inventory increases immediately.
- Component inventory decreases immediately.
- Inventory movement records are created automatically.
- The Manufacturing Order is automatically marked as completed.
No additional action is required.
