Sales Order picking is used to fulfill customer orders and deduct picked quantities from inventory.
Once a Sales Order is picked, the system updates inventory automatically based on the picked quantity.
Users can pick a Sales Order fully or partially, depending on available inventory and fulfillment needs.
Important
Picking a Sales Order will deduct inventory from the selected location.
Ways to Start Picking a Sales Order
Users can start the Sales Order picking workflow in two ways.
Option 1: Pick from Manage Sales Orders
Option 2: Pick from SO Picking Screen
Users can also go directly to the SO Picking screen to view Sales Orders that still need to be picked.
This option is useful for warehouse teams that need to review open picking tasks before fulfillment.
Export or Print Picking List
From the SO Picking screen, users can export or print the picking list before completing the picking process.
This is useful when the warehouse team wants to:
- Print a paper picking list
- Export the picking list for review
- Prepare items before picking
- Organize daily fulfillment tasks
Picking Items
The picking screen displays the items from the selected Sales Order.
Users can review:
- Item Number
- Item Description
- Ordered Quantity
- Picked Quantity
- Open Quantity
- Available Quantity
- Location
Users should enter the quantity they are picking for each item.
Partial Picking
Users can partially pick a Sales Order if only part of the order is ready.
This is useful when:
- Not all items are available
- Only part of the order needs to be fulfilled first
- The order will be completed later
After partial picking, the Sales Order remains open until the remaining quantity is picked.
Full Picking
Users can fully pick a Sales Order when all required items are ready.
Once all items are picked:
- Inventory is deducted automatically
- The Sales Order fulfillment status is updated
- The order is considered fulfilled
Inventory Deduction
Inventory is deducted when the picking transaction is saved.
The system deducts inventory based on:
- Item selected
- Picked quantity
- Selected location
Users do not need to manually adjust inventory after picking.
After Picking
After the Sales Order is picked, users can continue with other optional steps if needed.
This may include:
- Creating a shipment
- Printing or emailing Sales Order forms
- Recording customer payment
- Reviewing picking history
Creating a shipment is optional. Picking is the step that deducts inventory and fulfills the Sales Order.
Best Practice
Before saving the picking transaction, check:
- Correct Sales Order
- Correct item
- Picked quantity
- Inventory location
- Available quantity
This helps prevent inventory and fulfillment errors.
Tip
Use the SO Picking screen to review open picking tasks, export picking lists, and help the warehouse team prepare orders more efficiently.
